Estimator – Curated Product Line

RAM Windows & Doors is an exciting and rapidly growing manufacturer of residential and commercial windows and doors. RAM has been manufacturing high-end custom windows since 1978. We expanded our product offering in 2021 to include high-end custom exterior doors. We further expanded our door product offering to include our Curated (Standard) Door Line, which is marketed toward semi-custom and production builders throughout Texas.

With our expanded window and door product offering, we are seeking a detail-oriented, hardworking, and motivated Estimator to support the continued growth of our Curated Product Line.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Curated Line Estimator will work directly with the Curated Line Product Manager and other internal departments to prepare accurate and timely estimates for residential window and door projects throughout Texas.

The ideal candidate has experience reviewing residential construction plans, performing material takeoffs, and preparing project estimates and proposals. Experience within the residential construction or building materials industry is strongly preferred.

This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple estimating projects and deadlines simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review residential construction plans, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to determine window and door requirements.

  • Develop detailed residential window and door takeoffs based on plans provided by builders and customers.

  • Prepare accurate and timely project estimates, bids, and proposals.

  • Perform electronic takeoffs and estimating using company-approved software, including WTS and other estimating platforms.

  • Accurately identify window and door sizes, quantities, configurations, product specifications, and other project requirements.

  • Review project plans and specifications for discrepancies, missing information, or potential issues that could affect pricing or product selection.

  • Work with the Curated Line Product Manager to clarify project requirements and ensure estimates meet customer and project specifications.

  • Utilize established estimating templates, pricing structures, and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, estimate records, pricing information, and revisions.

  • Update estimates as plans, specifications, or project requirements change.

  • Coordinate with internal departments as necessary to obtain accurate product, pricing, production, and technical information.

  • Ensure all departments receive accurate and updated project information related to approved estimates and specifications.

  • Review completed estimates for accuracy before submission.

  • Assist with value engineering and alternative product recommendations when appropriate.

  • Track estimating projects and deadlines to ensure timely completion and submission.

  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures, templates, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Maintain organized electronic project files and estimating documentation.

  • Perform accurate data entry with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Communicate professionally with internal departments, builders, vendors, and other project stakeholders when clarification is required.

  • Perform other estimating-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED JOB-RELATED SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans, blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • Experience performing construction or material takeoffs.

  • Experience with electronic takeoff and estimating software.

  • Prior experience with Paradigm Quoting Software and BuildPro/SupplyPro is preferred.

  • Experience with WTS or similar window and door estimating software is preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.

  • 1-3 years of estimating, construction, building materials, window and door, or related experience preferred.

  • Experience performing residential construction takeoffs is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in the residential construction or building materials industry is preferred.

  • Window and door estimating experience is highly preferred.

PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, up to 50-75% of the workday.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to walk, stand, bend, or stoop.

  • Position requires strong judgment, decision-making, follow-up, reading, writing, mathematical reasoning, organization, timeliness, stress tolerance, and written and verbal communication skills.
